The Main Screen

When you first open Linkpad, you will be presented with a list with a single item, the "root". The root is only a container for all of the items you want to create. Simply press Menu to "attach" an item to the root.

You can choose between 5 item type : 

Group :  A group is an empty item that will hold related items together.

Text : Use this item to store notes or details to other item. You can also, by changing the item's icon, make those item appears as a buletted list.

Voice recording : You can record your thoughs with this usefull recorder. It records only short notes (less than 20 seconds) but you can use it to record your idea "on the go" to type them as a note at a later time.

To do  : One of the most versatile item in Linkpad, you can create two types of To do items. By checking the "Set as done if all children are done" you can let Linkpad manage that particular check box and it will only become checked if all the check boxes it contains are checked. Those check boxes can be inside any type of items, as long as it is in the same tree as the original To Do. Those check boxes will be green.

 The other type of To Do item act as simple  item, like the one in the device built in's To Do application. The only difference is that you can actually create a whole list of items as easily as writing a text file. Those check boxes will be blue.

The "Add Mutliple To Do" dialog will help you create grocery lists, travel reminder, or any other long list of item to remember in seconds.

Linkable :  Unique to Linkpad, "Linkable" items can be used to make tasks easier. For example, instead of creating a text note with a phone number to remind you to call someone, you can use a Linkable item so that you get sent to the device's Phone application with the number ready to be dialed simply by selecting the item in your list of notes.

The same can be done with SMS, emails and web pages. Linkable items are easier than remembering web pages addresses and faster than using copy/paste.

Controls

Simply use the Wheel or Trackball to navigate between your items. The D-Pad Left or Right will expand and collapse the descendants of the selected item. You can also expand and collapse some items (Group and Automatic (green) To Do) just by clicking on them.

Linkpad is capable of more, especially to manage your items. You can copy and cut items or move them in the three's hierarchy. You can also use the "Find" menu to find any kind of items in your list.
